Be Proud Awards – Cherokee County

Honoring the people who make Cherokee County stronger, safer, and more united.

Every day, ordinary people do extraordinary things for our community. The Be Proud Awards were created to recognize those local heroes – the neighbors, business owners, parents, students, veterans, first responders, and volunteers who choose to serve Cherokee County.

About the Be Proud Awards

The Be Proud Awards are a community recognition program created to honor individuals and organizations in Cherokee County who reflect the values of hard work, service, responsibility, and love for our community.

These awards are not about politics or titles. They are about real people doing real work to make life better for others. Whether it is helping a neighbor in need, supporting local families, standing up for freedom and opportunity, or investing time into the next generation, the Be Proud Awards shine a light on those efforts.

Our goal is simple:

Who Can Be Nominated?

Any resident, business, organization, or volunteer group in Cherokee County can be nominated.

Nominees might be:

  •  *   Parents, teachers, or coaches who go above and beyond for kids

  •  *   Veterans and first responders who serve with courage and integrity

  •  *   Small business owners who give back to the community

  •  *   Students or young adults leading with character and initiative

  •  *   Faith and community leaders who are quietly serving others

  •  *   Any Cherokee County neighbor who is making a positive difference 

  •  

You do not need to be involved in politics or be a member of any group. If they love Cherokee County and are helping people, they can be nominated.

Award Categories

Community Hero Award

For individuals who have made a significant impact through service, outreach, or support of local families and neighbors.

Patriot Leader Award

For citizens who defend freedom, promote civic engagement, protect our constitutional values, and help keep Cherokee strong and free.

Youth Impact Award

For students or young adults (ages 13–25) who are setting an example in leadership, service, or initiative in their school or community.

Faith in Action Award

For individuals or ministries who live out their faith by serving others, caring for the vulnerable, and strengthening families.

Local Business Champion Award

For business owners who create jobs, support community events, donate time or resources, and invest in Cherokee County’s future.

Service & Sacrifice Award

For veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders who have shown exceptional dedication and service.

Lifetime Legacy Award

For someone whose long-term impact over many years has shaped our community in a powerful and lasting way.

 

How the Nomination Process Works

 

Step 1: Submit a Nomination
Community members submit nominations through our online form. You will be asked to share basic contact information and a short explanation of why your nominee deserves recognition.

 

Step 2: Review by Selection Committee
A local committee will review all nominations, verify information when needed, and select finalists in each category.

 

Step 3: Finalists Announced
Finalists will be announced publicly before the event, and invited to attend the Be Proud Awards ceremony.

 

Step 4: Be Proud Awards Ceremony
Award recipients will be recognized during a special program, with certificates and Be Proud Awards seals to honor their service.

        No. Anyone in Cherokee County can submit a nomination.

        We prefer that nominations come from someone else, but you can encourage friends, coworkers, or family to nominate you if they believe your work should be recognized.

        Yes, but the selection committee will focus on current impact and recent contributions.
